Create opportunity through motivation

Let’s talk plainly about motivation – and how that plays into a team atmosphere in the workplace. Why is it always said that it is so important to lead from the top? When we talk about leading from the top, what we are referring to is the executives and management team of a company doing their part to implement and live what the company has developed as their own unique culture. This is the only proven way to get buy-in from those they are leading. This personifies the maxim “If one seeks to motivate others to his cause, he too must be passionate about what he does”. I think at one point or another, most of have had a manager or company executive who was a strict “by-the-clock-er” – the one who is ready to stop thinking about work entirely, or mentally “check out” right at five o’clock, right? At one point or another, if we are to be honest, each and every one of us has most likely felt that way as well. This is normal for most people. However, if we are going to live life on our terms, the way we want it, we must be able to conquer that overwhelming feeling of burn out! This is VITAL! And MOTIVATION is the key! The opportunities presented to those who rise the occasion are limitless, as is each of our own potential, if we will focus on what we are going to accomplish rather than make excuses for that which we will not take the initiative to do. In our lives, and jobs, there are certain undesirable tasks which we will often fight tooth and nail to get out of having to do. I know these tasks. I also know the excuses that are used to get out of these tasks. I have made them myself, for crying out loud! I used to be the master avoider - you know the kind, the person who does all the busy things to get out of doing the real work. I have seen how it looks to be on that side. What we miss however, is the knowledge that we have been a part of something more meaningful than we could otherwise imagine. This is one of the most powerful keys to those wanting to live a meaningful life. CARPE DIEM! Pluck the day, and from it learn all you can and revel in your opportunities to make a difference by being motivated to do what others will not.
